A Weekend in Madrid

The Spanish capital city is not only a business center and home to the Government of Spain and the Royal Family, it also makes it an exciting location for a city break. Get to Madrid’s Barajas Airport about 8 miles from town, and there are many connections to the town center. The metro is the best option, and will take you out of the Nuevos Ministerios half-hour drive from where you can connect to the nearest metro station of your hotel. There is also a bus to the airport in the city center, stopping at the Plaza de Colón in the center of town, or if you want to drop in at the door, you can grab the AeroCITY minibus or get a taxi. These are slow options even when traffic is high. Travelzoo is a great place to find cheap travel and holiday deals in Madrid.

Where to Continue To avoid a short stay in Madrid, book yourself in one of the many centrally located hostels or hotels (even if Madrid is fair and easily navigated by metro, so you will not be away from action no matter where you stay). If you want to stay central and on a budget there are many hostels to choose from including Hostal Acapulco, which is one of the best, or Hostal América, with a rooftop roof overlooking the city. For a little extra you can try the Ateneo Hotel, which is very safe and the rooms have private balconies, or for a more luxurious stay there is the five star Hesperia Hotel. What Not to Remember A weekend in Madrid would not be complete without a visit to at least one of the many art galleries it offers.

Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, in the district of Atocha, is the site of some of Spain’s most famous artefacts and draws people to work with the likes of Picasso and Dalí, and it houses the sculptures and modern media arts such as photography and film as well as paints. For lovers of more traditional works, Palacio Real (Royal Palace) opens its doors and has a fine display of paintings by Rubens, Velázquez, Goya, El Greco and Caravaggio among others. There are also Tiépolo frescos found in the palace.

Of course Madrid is also famous for bullfighting, so for the brokenhearted (and if you will) go to La Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas. Or, for a little less bloodthirsty, look forward to seeing one of the most famous football teams in the world move and catch a home game in Real Madrid if you can. If your trip doesn’t match the football season you can still travel around the Bernabéu stadium and visit the trophy, and walk the pitch. You can fly directly to Spain with Fly Monarch, which offers cheap flights to Spain, as well as flights to other Spanish destinations such as Barcelona; the country’s capital may make a useful starting point for a trip to Spain.

Las Vegas Hotels With the Best Family Oriented Pools

Every year my boys can’t wait for our annual Vegas family vacation. This year is the 7th year. Many people disagree that Vegas is a great place for families with children, but we love it. My husband and I are neither gamblers nor drinkers and we really enjoy spending our free time with our two sons.

Las Vegas has so much to offer alongside gambling and nightlife. Every year there are many things to see and experience.

We usually visit Las Vegas every September after Labor Day weekend. The weather was good and we couldn’t wait for the lounge by pool sipping cold drinks. We always chose a family-friendly pool that was family-friendly and we didn’t get dirty looks by taking our boys. The top 3 picks in our family are The MGM Grand, The Monte Carlo and The Mirage.

# 1 The MGM Grand
The MGM Grand has a unique pool complex. In my opinion a best of Vegas. You feel as you enter a spectacular paradise with plenty of lush gardens, beautiful flowers, fountains and a small island connected with bridges. This 6-acre paradise offers 5 swimming pools, 3 whirlpools and a lazy river. The sweet stream hit my family. It floats under bridges, through waterfalls and ends in a small Lagoon with a perfect waterfall wading pool for kids and toddlers.

I must admit that this paradise has some drawbacks. One of the frustrations is that you need to rent a pipe or raft to truly experience the lazy river. I think the rent is $ 15 per profit per day. The MGM Grand is known for running special promotions where you can get the rental for the cheapest, free or 2 for 1. Before you book your room you need to check the websites that have coupons for MGM (go to Google and type in the MGM Las Vegas coupons in the search – vegas are good first). The second drawback is the pool complex located a short distance from the visitor elevator. You have to walk the promenade with shops and restaurants to get to the pool, but the walk is great.

# 2 The Monte Carlo
The Monte Carlo pool is small compared to the pool complex at The Grand, but we enjoyed it no matter what. They are child friendly and that is why.

Monte Carlo offers 3 swimming pools, whirlpools and a children’s pool. If you are visiting Las Vegas with little ones you will love the kiddie pool included with the size of chairs on the beach. The wave pool with 3ft balloons is designed to glorify the ocean and is a blast for the whole family. If you like to swim then try the Lagoon pool. It is a nice and relaxing square with a waterfall. My favorite is the relaxing 400 feet of Easy River Ride. There is also a tub, but you can buy a tube inside their beach shop for about $ 12.00 and the rent will be up for you as well. This is a real money saver for bigger families or staying longer like us. Once you’ve done this, why not pass the tube on to the new family.

# 3 The Miracle
The Mirage pool is a series of pools connected by bridges and lagoons with cascading waterfalls in a tropical setting. There used to be waterlide, but to my children’s great disappointment they ended it. They offered the raft rental to float, but we really didn’t need to. You can ask for complete life jackets for kids. The pool is located near the guest elevators below the small promenade with several shops, a coffee bistro and an ice cream shop. If you decide to order a drink take my advice and order a small size. If you do not know they will bring you a great drink with the most price tag.

Just one tip: Most pools in Vegas say that you’re not allowed to save pool lounge chairs, but everyone else does. If you don’t you can’t get a good place because of hundreds of people before you ignore the rule. Live and Learn.

Have fun in Las Vegas with Kids.

Getting To Venice For Amazing Venice Vacations

There are, they say, a hundred ways to get to Rome. Well there are just as many ways to get to Venice as well for the memorable holidays in Venice. You can travel to Venice in any mode that suits you. You can drive yourself, take the bus or train, fly or get here by boat. The choice is yours. Let me give you some additional details that may be relevant.

Get in the car – this may be less attractive because you can’t drive around Venice and you have to pay a fair amount to park your tires on your Venice holidays. If you want to drive, it is best to use a rental car. Parking, as I mentioned, is expensive in Venice. But it is cheaper if you park your car in Mestre and take a train to Venice. Locals leave every five to ten minutes and the cost of parking is worth what Venice has to offer.

If you choose to go to Venice, Italy by train, remember to continue until the last stop in Santa Lucia. The good thing about Santa Lucia is the fact that it is right on the Grand Canal and just outside the railway station you can get the Vaporetto or the buses. Be careful not to go to Mestre.

If you are traveling to Venice for a Venice Vacation, you will be landing at the Marco Polo airport where all scheduled carriers are located. The airport is about 13 miles from Venice and is connected to buses, shuttles and private taxis – naturally enough, rates increase in the same order. The parco polo is well connected and has flights from anywhere you can name it. You can search online or speak with your travel agent to find cheap flights to Venice, Italy.

As I said before, you can also get to Venice via a cruise ship for your Venice vacation. They watch the Port of Venice. You can take a complete shuttle boat from the cruise ship to Piazza San Marco.

A unique feature of Venice is its car-free nature. It may be time to get used to walking anywhere without worrying about running. If you spend time in town, remember that the rest of the world is not so safe!

A romantic way to travel to Venice is to use the Gondola, but it can be expensive, usually spending EUR75 or more an hour. Make sure you know what your wages are and don’t hesitate on the cheap. There are parts of gondolas as well where you pay a little more but it’s for traveling instead of for romance!

Fortunately, Venice is also a town you can see on foot. If you have the time to spend and really want to relax in the city on your Venice vacations, this is the option we recommend.

Luxury Hotels – Las Vegas

Gambling in Mecca Las Vegas is home to some of the best performing hotels and casinos in the world. Of these some should be considered five stars during any stay.

The Artisan

Only from the evil strip, the Artisan goes to more than one hotel: it is an experience. From the minute the valet asks you to come through the gothic gilded glass doors, this is Las Vegas. Surreal, quirky and completely out of the ordinary, the hotel blends in perfectly with the surroundings. Floating chandeliers, flashing candles and decay leave you feeling like you were arriving in early 20th Century Paris.

MGM Grand

Opening in 1993, the MGM Grand is being held for the largest hotel in the world. With more than 5000 rooms, five outdoor pools, 16 restaurants, and the largest Clark County State casino with a one-glass glass enclosure within the space of the casino. The large lion, Leo, flows outside in front of the magnifying glass building.

The crème de la crème of hotel accommodation, the Bellagio is a classic five-star gem among the luxury Las Vegas luxury hotels. A wealth of timeless décor decorates over 3900 rooms making for a much more relaxing retreat once the casino has grown. The fountains beyond the hotel drag the crowd daily for daily appearances as the water flies in the air at the sound of Elton John among others.

Named after the city of Luxor in Egypt, the luxurious black pyramid facade at Luxor Hotel and Casino is one of the first hotels to greet you as you begin the drive to the Strip. Unacceptably, the scheme adds a much deeper edge to an eclectic skyline. This Las Vegas luxury hotel features a replica of the Great Sphinx in Giza. The lift is exciting as the guest rooms are located on the exterior walls of the pyramid and reached by inclines traveling along the interior of the pyramid at a 39-degree angle

The flagship hotel of the Wynn brand title, The Wynn Las Vegas has always been considered one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. Located just opposite the huge Fashion Mall in the distance, this is one of the few unspoiled hotels such as a rollercoaster or life-size Eiffel Tower to invite guests. The hotel has its own 18-hole golf course as well as a salon, casino (of course) and a large collection of the best shops in the world. Home to the evil Tryst nightclub, with waterfall and lake in between. Only in Las Vegas.
